Hm… couldn’t get this slick EE comments brace thing to work in the Fresh Variables Mod. Is this by design, or if not, could I make a feature request?

Confirmed, I’ll have to enquire about this one, though, Kurt. =)

Thanks Lisa.

In this case, I’ve got some conditionals matching member group_id with cat_id, for about 40 groups. All those numbers start looking the same to me after a while and I’m sure our web-master and myself would benefit down the road with some comments, so we don’t have to keep looking up the id numbers to match them with group name and cat names; you know, so we match up the right ones.

😉

No worries, Kurt. This was just a new one for me - it happens, eh? =)

Here’s the low-down. To avoid having those comments show on the rendered page, the comments are actually removed when a template is retrieved. Any comments placed anywhere other than directly in the template will end up with them being displayed: thusly they can’t come from any type of global variable (including fresh variables, path.php, etc), a tag, or any other source other than, as mentioned, directly in the template.

Have you seen the Developer extension? it provides a nice super-admin only viewable cheat-sheet that might help you out.

Hm… Developer Extension?… I’ll track that down.

Bummer about the comments, but I do understand why we can’t use them.

Thanks Lisa.
