Upgrade from 1.6 error - no CP access

I’m getting an error related to an extension after an upgrade from 1.6 It’s for Cocoholic’s tab forward extension, which I don’t think I can live without :(

If I go to the CP I get this error message:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /www/pmh/public_html/system/extensions/ext.tab_forward.php on line 156

I’m attaching his extension.

If I remove his extension I set a system message that the extension is missing, so I can’t get into the CP even without it.

This is a third-party extension so I’ve moved it down to the appropriate forum. I would recommend disabling the extension and contacting Cocoaholic to ask him about it.

I also edited out your username and system directory, for security reasons. =)

Ah, I misunderstood, I thought you could still get in.

Put this in your config file:

$conf['allow_extensions'] = "n";

It doesn’t uninstall the extensions but stops EE from reading them so you can get in and disable Tab Forward.

Ah it’s messy.

If the tab forward file is in my extensions folder, I can’t open the extensions manager - I get the message that I posted.

If I remove tab forward from the server and then enable extensions, I get locked out of the CP again.

It’s not as urgent now, it’s the weekend so no one is working in the CP - but I had to keep extensions enabled because I have some critical things there.

I’m going to PM Cocoaholic, just wanted to lay it all out here.

I had an old version of Tab Forward, I’ve upgraded to the latest version and all is well again. Thanks Lisa and Cocoaholic!
