Diagnosing a Hook(?) Problem

Hello,

I’m having trouble trying to locate the cause of a problem I’m having with Mark Huot’s File Extension on one of my sites.

I have the extension installed on another 1.6.1 install without problem; my client uses it all the time. On one particular site, however, it won’t display the extra fields it should on the File Upload screen. The extension install goes well: the database table is created, and, if I manually edit the database table to insert values I know are correct, the extension’s custom field functionality works perfectly.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. I tried upgrading to 1.6.2. I tried disabling every other extension on the system.

Everything about this extension works (adding another custom field type, the actual use of that custom field, the extra database table and the values in it, etc…) except the actual displaying of its extra fields on the File Upload screen. These fields change the values in the database table the extension creates, so it’d be great to be able to get to them from the control panel.

How else can I diagnose this problem? What else could be different about my install that would outlast an upgrade from 1.6.1 to 1.6.2? Am I right in assuming it’s a hook issue?

Thanks, Matt
