Viddler, the video sharing site, has put out a video commenting plug-in for WordPress. How hard would it be to port something like that over to Expression Engine? I absolutely love the feature, and would love to implement it on my site, but I don’t want to jump from EE to WP.
Can anyone help?
Well, even though there haven’t been any responses yet, I’d like to thank the 47 people who at least checked out the post at this point. I’m looking at the WP plugin myself and trying to figure out what you’d need to change to get it to work, and my head aches just looking at it. But I’m guessing that it might be simpler than I would guess.
Anyway, thanks to everyone whose at least given it some thought.
What exactly does it do, Chris? I’m not familiar with Viddler - is it basically just like a YouTube / Google video embed? If so, there are extensions already written to allow pMcode-like syntax to post these safely in the forums, comments, etc. I doubt it would take much modification to add Viddler to that mix.
Hey Derek,
Thanks for the reply. Viddler is essentially like YouTube. They can be found at www.viddler.com. The plugin allows people to use their webcam to record a video comment right then and there on the site (so long as they have a Viddler account… if they don’t, they can sign up for one through the plugin). The video is stored on Viddler’s servers and embedded into the comment section of the site.
Does that help?
