Hi all, I wanted to make a “Twitter channel” for my magazine and I searched around for a suitable plugin. The LG Twitter plugin was kind of neat, but it was geared towards reading Tweets rather than posting them, so I made my own based on this PHP Curl Script.

This plugin will send messages to your Twitter.com account. I originally made this to set up an automated Twitter feed for my site Flashmagazine. Just seconds after I publish a new story, my subscribers can be notified of it. You could use this for a lot of other purposes as well, so feel free to email me with other use cases 😊

(One idea that comes to mind is to use the free Twitter SMS notifications to get a SMS to your phone every time a new story is published)

Here’s more info and the download

PS: Feedback wanted 😉

LG twitter actually sends tweets when you publish a post and stores the information in the db so you could make a weblog of them for later use 😊

Hi Leevi, Yeah, but I had to make a custom weblog field and input something into it? I didn’t quite understand why I would do that and how I could make a system where I’d get the title and URL of the current entry sent to Twitter? How would I go about making something like this with LG twitter?

With my approach there’s nothing extra to do. You just install the plugin and online services will do the rest for you.

Anyway - I love your plugins! I just installed the social bookmark one yesterday and it was super-easy.
