Quick question. I am using Mark Huots file module and when I upload images with it, for some reason it sets the permissions on the server to 600, and its a different owner than my FTP user. What I am running into, is I am trying to download a backup of the entire site, however when it gets to the images/uploads folder, all the JPGs in there are set to 600 and I can’t download them, or change the permissions either.
Please help, I have run into this in the past and have never been able to figure out if I have something configured wrong or what. Thanks!
Hi, Ryan - I’ve moved this back up to technical support. However, it may yet need to be moved again, down to the Extensions forum, as this may be a problem particular to Mark’s extension.
But let’s find out first. Can you try disabling all extensions using the green button in the upper right - this will not remove your settings for the extensions (do not individually disable each extension, or you will lose settings). Now, can you try uploading from the Publish screen using the file upload wizard, and see if the permissions are correct?
What we’re doing here is isolating the issue, to see if it is a general uploading problem, or specific to Mark’s extension.
Thank you!
Hey Lisa,
I tried your suggestion, disabled extensions. Uploaded a file and the permissions for the uploaded file are in fact set to 777, but any files that were uploaded with the file extension are set to 600 for some reason. So I guess it is a problem specific to the extension?
Yep- looks to be extension specific to me, since it’s working as expected w/extensions off. I suspect there’s some interaction going on w/server settings, as I doubt it’s normal behavior. But I will go ahead and shift to extensions. I’m not up enough on the script to spot what might be going on.
