Luke– are you using PHP5?

I would double-check on the PHP 5 issue – my own host, EngineHosting, had information on its home page and my control panel telling me I had PHP 5, but when I did a version check through PHP function I found I was on PHP 4. Getting confirmation on that point cleared up all my problems.

I don’t know if anyone’s noticed, but Mitchell Kimbrough at Solspace has a Related Entries extension that is a bit different from Playa. Unfortunately for me, it’s $69.95 and my Korea-based credit card won’t allow me to pay for it through his website.

Thanks Brendon, I’m definitely on PHP 5. And Playa is mostly working, except that the entries with exclamation marks on my test are not being outputted. If I go to those entries, open them and update them, the exclamation mark thing disappears and they are outputted.

I just need to know what the exclamation mark means and where it originates so that I can address the problem.

I am using PHP5 - wouldn’t have it any other way, at least for new projects. The server and phpinfo() return PHP5 credentials.

It’s a great extension!

This is something like feature request. When I add related entries, I would like to automatically update these entries and add actual entry as releated. In other words, adding related entries, there will be updated all touched entries.

Luke,

It’s down to the fact that you’ve set the Status for the related entry to something other than ‘Open’.

I’ve just bumped into this issue, and would also cast a vote for its resolution. In the meantime, use Steven’s helpful solution above.

btw, awesome stuff Brandon.

This plugin is great! Many props…

I just discovered a problem though. When you are saving and you have a required field that has been left blank and EE flags an error, it empties the Playa field. It doesn’t matter if it’s a new entry or your going back to edit an old one.

I have a bad feeling this is the same issue with Quick Save. I am willing to pay someone for a solution.

Ok, I’m not getting this extension to work. Running php5, disabled all extension except this one, updated all entries.

All i’m getting is

{REL[suggest]WmqwLJzYREL}

Someone knows what’s going on here?

test template: http://rnza.hello-media.nl/index.php/nza/go/

code i’m using:

<?php
// prints e.g. 'Current PHP version: 4.1.1'
echo 'Current PHP version: ' . phpversion();
?>

{exp:weblog:entries weblog="ladies" orderby="date" sort="desc" limit="1" disable="member_data|trackbacks" }
            <strong>{title}</strong>
                {related_entries id="suggest"}
                   {afbeeldingpng}
                {/related_entries}
{/exp:weblog:entries}

Thanks for helping

Tim I had this problem too, and I can’t exactly tell you how I got rid of it.. I tested Playa on a clean install of EE and it worked. Then I simplified the weblog structure on my main install and it started working - the REL business went away.

You might also try upping the memory allocated to php. You can do this in your .htaccess file if your host allows it - first check what php is getting now by outputting <?php phpinfo(); ?>.

I have the following in my htaccess:

php_value memory_limit 64M

Good luck! Its game changing for your site when this thing works.
