mdesign,

I have tried all of your advice, including editing my PHP.ini file to match my online server PHP.ini file. No luck.

It obviously works online and I will continue to explore my MacBook Pro environment for something that will get it working on my development Mac.

I am stumped for now.

Ugh, that stinks. I feel your pain, as this extension is unbelievably useful and pretty much essential.

Only other extension I’m using is Huot’s file upload field extension.

I wrote to the author of Playa and he said:

“This is a known issue with Playa. It has been discussed on the forum, and the fix is pretty simple. If I remember correctly, you just have to change the system_folder variable in system/config.php to correctly represent the location of your system folder (including parent directories). So, if your system folder is at http://example.com/ee/system/, your system_folder variable should be set to “ee/system. If that doesn’t work, read through the Playa thread; the answer should be in there.”

I haven’t tried it yet. I’m just using Huot’s multi relational fields for now. That extension works for my purposes for right now.

Playa won’t save selections. Everything looks good, I can select related entries, but when I save the entry, everything that was in the Playa right column is gone as if I never chose anything. As far as I recall, the only new add-on since Playa was working fine is the Structure Module.

Are you quick saving or updating? Are you using the latest version that disables the quick save button after making a change?

I’m using 1.0.9 and I’m updating. I took a screenshot in Firebug if that helps.

This plugin rules! Great work!

Another +1 for a backspace feature though.

The conflict turns out to be with Textile Editor Helper(TEH), not Structure. Haven’t fixed it, but at least tracked it down.

You should be using version 1.1.0 of TEH if you aren’t already. It’s been re-written using jQuery for fewer extension conflicts.

I haven’t kept up with Playa’s development, but I am looking again at switching from Mark Hout’s extension for some of the added functionality.

Right now, I use it to relate selected gallery entries to weblog entries. Can Playa do that too?

Another functionality I am looking for (the other extension doesn’t have this) is being able to select how many of the entries related to an entry to display. Can Playa do this? The blog where I pull in the gallery entries has an RSS feed, and there I only want to show a limited number of the related entries, and I haven’t been able to figure out a solution for this so far. Ideally, I’d also want to select which of the related entries to show there (by way of a gallery custom field on those entries).

I’ve been using the Playa extension on a couple of jobs, it’s an awesome bit of work but it would be great if it included parameters to specify things such as ‘limit’ and ‘offset’ in templates… 😊

Just started playing with playa - (no pun intended!).

I’m getting errors:

{REL[3][horses]MF4DzbvLREL}{REL[4][horses]MF4DzbvLREL}

See http://www.luckyjo.co.uk/index.php

The template code is as follows:

{exp:weblog:entries weblog="race" show_future_entries="yes" status="not closed"}

{related_entries id="horses"}
<h2>{title}</h2>
{going}
 {length}
{/related_entries}

{/exp:weblog:entries}

My servers or the box I’m on should support php 4 + 5 but when I check this in expression engine (Admin / Utilities / PHP info) I get PHP Version 4.4.8

Any ideas how to get round this?

Both versions of PHP are installed but on your server, 4 is the default. Try adding this to your .htaccess:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php
