Testing During Module Development

Just curious to hear how people test sections of a module while they develop. I have really basic functionality of my mcp file/lang file setup, tried it, and I just get a blank page on the modules page. I assume there are most likely other issues there, but how do you pair it down, other than having to look over hundreds of lines of code to find a missing ‘;’ or something similar.
