I created an extension to get rid of some minor nuisances in the EE Control Panel that were bugging me more than usual, lately. Result:
- No title attribute for links
- No Check Spelling, Glossary or Smileys
- No localization for custom date fields
- No Trackbacks column
- Infinite URL title duplicates

I seen that as well, when I downloaded I changed it to zip as it wanted to be htm.
It disabled the smileys etc, but I still sit and watch n wait as “100” smiley images download while I wait to start typing in content lol.
I imagine it would take hacking the core files to not have smileys downloading every entry?

Nope. Just one more preg_replace. Added that to the extension, so if you wish, you could download it again. (no update, just disable/enable again)
