I’m using the extension, but wanted it to only appear for super admins and not all users who have access to the Control Panel. So I’ve added an if statement into the extension code if anybody else has the same requirement

Thanks for the heads up…this helped me a bunch.

I can’t find an official support chanenel for Leevi, so I’ll post this here:

I had a problem earlier this month where ALL my ExpressionEngine clients were complaining that their Control Panel homepages were taking ages (5-10 minutes in some cases) to load. I tracked the problem down to the LG Addon Updater extension - my guess would be that someone’s site was down and the cURL calls were failing.

I think the extension needs to either handle timeouts a bit better, or do a simple ping test first.

Right. I never install this on client sites. My client certainly doesn’t need to know about out-of-date add-ons, and I don’t need potential errors cropping up.

Addon update check failed for LG Member Form Customise

Red bold top of control panel. Totally annoying and nothing I do removes it. As this is for a client new to EE it leaves a very bad impression, Is there a fix?

lol, did that. It’s a handy extension, not complaining though it appears I am. Just can’t have that for clients. I’m sure it’s fixable…hope. If I wasn’t so lazy I’d look in the extension code.

I wrote an edit to the code that means it only appears for Super admin, assuming your clients are set to their own member group, it should work for you:

For quite some time now, I’ve been getting no update notifications at all. Everything appears to be enabled. I’d appreciate suggestions on how to track this down.

Update: this may not apply to all extensions. I’m not seeing notifications for Structure. When I look at the LG cache, it doesn’t have an entry for Structure, even though update-checking is turned on for the Structure extension. The code in the Structure extension looks like the LG example. If I make it unconditional (not checking whether checking is enabled), there’s no improvement.

There are a couple of other third-party extensions listed in the cache, so it’s not completely broken.

How to track this down?

Leevi, Thanks for all your great addons. We have been trying to get your Addon Updater to work, but everytime we enable the extension it turns our CP blank. Disabling it brings everything back to normal. Turning on all error reporting kicks out this message when trying to access the CP homepage *after* activating the extension: Fatal error: Call to undefined method stdClass::userdata() in /www/#######/public_html/######/core/core.functions.php on line 86 Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I am having the same issue. Solutions?

With LG Addon Updater enabled, the early parsing of variables from Low Variables doesn’t work. I’ve also seen problems with LG Addon Updater stomping on the session information for NSM Publish Plus. Is the 1.6.8 version still being looked at? Or is it all 2.0 from here on out?

I’ve tried using the latest version on Leevi’s site (1.0.2) and the latest version from Github (1.1.1).

I fixed this by upgrading 1.6.3 to 1.6.8 so maybe this extension requires a something more specific than 1.6.x.
