Hi folks.
We’re about to release a spam-filtering module that uses the Defensio technology. Defensio is one of the newer spam identifying services out there, and is an alternative to Akismet.
If you’re interested in being part of a beta test, let me know. I’d like to get about 6 real-world sites run by admins who aren’t afraid to try a beta product.

Defensio? What a wimpy name for a spam fighter. It should be something like Mad Dog Spam Breaker. Or maybe something offensive to Mandarin speakers.
Sounds cool though. Good job. I would test it myself but my sites get no traffic. Even the spammers think I’m not worth their time. I would have to spam myself. 😉

John are you missing medication today or something? 😉
Or maybe something offensive to Mandarin speakers.
Not too sure what you mean by that but hope it doesn’t offend anyone.
I think you may need to get out more 😊 😉 😊
Best wishes,
Mark
China sends out more spam than any other country but the United States.
Well not according to Wikipedia, the US is still tops 😉

Doood. Read the sentence you quoted again. China sends out more spam than any other country BUT the United States.
Oddly, that table quotes Sophos spam numbers with China being several notches down but in the notes the latest numbers release from 2007 shows that China is #2.

Geez, that is now two posts to explain the joke. Actually, even worse, I had to explain the explanation. 😉

Calm down now calm down. Just kidding 😉

Bear with me I’m getting old, brain’s not quite what it used to be! 😊
Don’t suppose you would consider explaining the explanation of the explanation would you? 😉
Sorry for the misread.
Best wishes,
Mark
Oh and by the way (proof that I’m getting old now) I meant to mention in my first post Travis that I would be interested in taking a look at this when it’s done if you don’t mind?
Sorry for the pull away from your thread there. Promise that won’t happen again.
Best wishes,
Mark
Mark and Markus, we’ll get you the beta shortly.
If anyone else is interested let me know. And one question that’s come up: will it cost anything? Not for this release that works with 1.x versions of EE. When EE 2.0 comes out, we’ll assess the amount of work necessary to upgrade it and decide if charging is a good idea. But for now, it will be free.
