Sean, the viewforum-Part is in tables, right, this is cause that’s - in view of semantic - the absolutely logical way to display this kind of content. table-less-layout and semantic-web does not mean that you can’t use the table-tag … you just have to use them only when you have content for tables (like the viewforum-page).
is it difficult to rewrite every forum-template? … well, you have to know where you have to change which parts and how this interacts with other templates etc. and you have test every possible interaction of the forum.
in short: it’s very time-consuming and you have to know what you do (and where 😊 ) … I’ve done forum-template-rewritings before with YaBB, Geeklog and older EE-Discussion-Forum etc. and therefore I had some experience.
Stefan,
EE should pay you to do this. If I knew going into buying the EE Forms mod that I was stepping back into the early 2000s I would have never bought it. They should have a disclaimer when buying the forums “WARNING: The forums mode has little to no good documentation on customizing to conform to your website. Also we use tables in 2010. Have a good day”
If invision power boards can be intergraded into my design faster then I’m going to get a refund on the mod because it’s too much of a headache to deal with. I mean look at all the users that would love a div centered layout and there isn’t a single one in the theme downloads page.
Again I know I’m beating a horse into a fine powder but it would be really nice to have some solid documentation for the forums mod. With a simple how-to for an up-to-date div centered layout.
Ok done ranting.
