Long time Structure user, first time Structure poster. 😊

First off, thanks for this excellent module, Travis. It’s amazing.

I’m having an issue I can’t seem to figure out - and it’s probably an “oh duh.” I’m building a “blog” on a site and I want to add Date and Category links on the sidebar. I can’t seem to get this to work with a template however. I turn dynamic on in the weblog:entries tag and I lose all my posts, and I turn it off and filtering fails.

Any ideas about what I can do to get these to work? Do you think this is a user error or a Structure issue?

Thanks for any brainpower you can devote to this. My brain is feeling pretty small right now. 😊

Have you tried putting the code for the date and category links within their own sub-template, which you then embed into your primary template?

You could have the “dynamic” parameter set to “off” in the sub-template, but leave it “as is” in your primary template.

However, I’m not sure why you’re using “Structure” to manage a blog (if, by “blog”, you mean a standard, run of the mill, date and category-organized blog). I suppose you could, but I think it would make things more complicated.

Hi Jason-

Thanks for the advice. I actually just added a simple conditional in the weblog:entries tag to check the segment and turn dynamic on or off.

I’m using the Entries feature of Structure so that I can integrate the user workflow into a streamlined process. By doing that I can have the user access all their content through Structure rather than having one piece outside of that. Since the blog is just one part of the whole site, it made sense to me. But I could be persuaded if you think this complicates things.

Thanks again Jason.

Best,

Josh

Google analytics issues.

Hi- I am running into a problem with using structure to manage my homepage, and targeting the homepage url in PPC campaigns.

Here is the rundown:

  • I have a site, with Structure installed and managing all of my pages, including the homepage
  • I have an ad running in Google, that is targeting the homepage (http://www.myhomepage.com/)
  • When you click on the live ad, google appends a tracking id (http://www.myhomepage.com/?gclid=CKO_lpDn2psCFU1M5QodHgObAw)

Appending the tracking ID breaks the homepage, and basically spits out content for all of the pages.

This problem seems to ONLY occur on the homepage, as hitting a URL like (http://myhomepage.com/about/?gclid=CKO_lpDn2psCFU1M5QodHgObAw or http://www.myhomepage.com/about/team/?gclid=CKO_lpDn2psCFU1M5QodHgObAw) doesn’t cause the same problem, because all structure cares about is the template_group/template

All in all, I love Structure, and use it heavlily.

As a quick bandaid, I have made the homepage just a static template, and have removed it from Structure.

Thanks, Adam

First of all, thanks for your patience. I’m not sure if everyone read my earlier posts, but I recently changed jobs, moved to New York from Florida and had a death in the family between both. I hate to make excuses, but it’s obviously been a busy few weeks and I want everyone to know I’m serious about supporting Structure.

The last round of support items have gone out. Since I’m so behind I PMed everyone directly instead of publicly posting replies to all. I still have a folder of emailed requests I’m working through, so if you already emailed me you have not been forgotten. If I somehow missed your support item, please EMAIL me at travis [AT] rockthenroll.com. Send me a brief explanation or a link to the exact forum comment number to help me help you quickly.

I’m looking into a support ticket system for future use to make things easier for everyone.

Thanks for using Structure and for your understanding!

RE: bug reports. Making plans for the next version and all reports from the past posts have been logged and will be looked at for the next release. Thank you so much for your time and help making Structure better!

Apologies if this question has been answered already, but I couldn’t find it..

When using the exp:weblog:entries with Structure-managed weblogs, is there a way to display entries with the sorting order you create by dragging pages within the Structure hierarchy?

Something like

{exp:weblog:entries dynamic=”off” weblog=”my_weblog” orderby="structure"}

?

Thanks

Hey I’m going through this tutorial and I was looking for the templates that were originally here (http://www.ngenworks.com/software/ee/structure/tutorial-jamboree/structure-templates.zip) but are gone now. can you tell me where to find them?

I’m testing structure on wamp on my local computer with the EE 1.6.7 Build: 20090515. I installed structure version 1.1.1 and it worked great. I then upgraded to version 1.3.0 and it seems to work but the cp doesn’t look right. I’ve attached screenshots of the cp and settings.

I would like to try out Structure (and Publish Tweeks) on a new site (fresh install with no other add ons).

I followed the installation instructions on http://buildwithstructure.com step by step. But when I try to publish or edit an entry I get a blank page (with no HTML source code). By disabling Structure extension I can edit entries as usual.

Similar problem with Publish Tweeks: if “Remove “Upload File” box?” is checked in the extension preferences I get a blank page at publishing or editing entries as well. Looks like this: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/101989/#516943

Hope you can help. Thanks!

I’m just curious if anybody has ever used Structure on a site where you had to force Query Strings?

It seems like I can’t get {exp:structure:nav_main} to work properly, even thought the link in the Control Panel have the ? mark as part of them.

I had just started to try it for this project and was loving it, but I think the fact that i have to Force Query String is driving me nuts.

The client is open to moving it, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this, just so I could avoid this hassle.

I’m new to EE and am curious how you upgrade modules. Do you just “Remove” the module and replace all modules, extensions, and language files with the new version, then “Install” the updated module?

Is the Structure from the previous installation still in place?

Thanks in advance!

@dennisfrank Check your PMS, but first make sure you turn off all other extensions and that it’s not a Structure/Publish Tweeks issue conflicting with something else

@toddajackson I have not used “Force Query Strings” with it.

@Hue Labs Don’t remove the module or you’ll lose the data. It’s different for every module, but for Structure replace all the folders and you’re set.

Hi Travis,

Can the module re-order the entries dragging them up/down from the module? I think it does on the navigation, but not in the way I’m trying:

I made a page with 5 child-pages underneath (static-content). The main page shows an excerpt of the 5 entries, but I’d like to have them in the same order I’ve on the structure module. Is it possible? or I can only arrange them with orderby default option?

Thanks
