Just Curious

This is what I get when I view my “source page” in one of my article page. I am just curious since the description and keywords appear twice in the page. Is it normal?

One set of tags is standard W3C meta and the other is Dublin Core meta (http://dublincore.org/).

Feel free to modify the template how you see fit in the extension settings.

Is there a benefit to keeping the Dublin Core meta? I have no clue what it does.

Thanks!!

Dublin Core Meta is generally used in educational and government websites. It’s probably best if you check out the dublin core website and see if it fits your needs.

Hi Leevi, I’m trying to make Better Meta work for a client of mine but I’m having a lot of issues, most of them which I somehow solved but I can’t still make it work.

Basically, Better Meta keywords are not being stored and I don’t know why. I already tried on a different EE installation and the problem persists. If I create a new blog or edit an existing page I can add new keywords, title, etc, but when I go back to the page using Edit just to check, all the fields are blank once again.

Am I doing something wrong?

I have the same problem with teixido. The meta keywors/description/you-name-it can’t be stored.

Any ideas?

A couple of quick questions:

Which version of LG Better Meta / EE / PHP are you guys using? Are there any PHP errors when the entry is saved?

Cheers Leevi

EE: version 1.6.4 LG Better Meta: version 1.7.0 PHP: the latest one

I ‘m not sure about the PHP errors. Where exactly should I see those errors? Does it have to do with some file permissions?

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm everything seems fine with your setup.

What other extensions do you have installed?

Leevi,

Are you discontinuing the freeware version? I use the paid version for some sites, but appreciate the option to use the freeware when less features are needed.

Hi Ben,

The freeware version was discontinued when version 1.6 was released for a couple of reasons:

  1. It had bugs and wasn’t getting the attention it deserved
  2. Maintaining the freeware version of the branch added more development overhead
  3. I just am too busy to maintain both
  4. I don’t really believe in crippling an extensions features just for the sake of a free version

I appreciate that the freeware version of the extension suited some users and clients. However I honestly believe that anyone who is serious about SEO would be happy paying the per site licensing fee considering the benefits the extension brings.

I can also guarantee that the majority of monies that is raised from the licensing fee of LG Better Meta goes back into supporting the development of my other freeware extensions.

Sincerely

Leevi

Only the LG Live Look v1.0.0 😊 (which by the way doesn’t work when a post is closed and/or set to go live in the future)

Make sure your specialty preview template includes “closed” in the status= parameter of weblog:entries, and that you have show_future_entries=”yes”.

Ah now we are getting somewhere. First you’ll need to read the caveat at the top of the Live Look post and implement the simple fix.

Regarding the template setup please refer to this post which explains how to setup the templates correctly.
