I am running a site with MSM - EE 1.6.4 and had installed the Primary Category Extension by Solspace.
Last week I noticed a problem with the Previous : Next functions and disabled the Primary Category Extension which seemed to help. The site was fine till tonight when I checked and instead of the individual entry pages I found the following message:
MySQL ERROR: Error Number: 1054 Description: Unknown column ‘t.primary_category’ in ‘on clause’ Query: SELECT c.cat_id AS main_cat_id, c.group_id AS main_group_id, c.*, cfd.* FROM exp_categories c LEFT JOIN exp_weblog_titles t ON t.primary_category = c.cat_id LEFT JOIN exp_category_field_data cfd ON cfd.cat_id = c.cat_id WHERE t.entry_id = ‘545’ LIMIT 1
I enabled the Primary Category extension and the pages reappear. i have not updated the site at all since last week (Could be a server update - this site is with Engine Hosting).
My question is how/what steps do I make to remove an extension, in this case Primary Category, without suffering a broken site. Or is this a question I should put to Solspace or should I be asking Engine Hosting if they have changed/updated the servers today?
ok I don’t know why it only just started to act up but I realised that there was an updated version. When I installed this I could see that when disabling the extension there are tags that I have used in the template that need to access the extension - and if its disabled then the site falls over. That’s solved that little mystery then.
