Hi optima,
Yes I’ve tried absolute and relative paths both with that format.
http://www.mydomain.com/template_group/template/{url_title}
/template_group/template/{url_title}
The template I am trying to access is actually an index page so I’ve tried it with and without specifying index as the template.
/template_group/index/{url_title}
/template_group/{url_title}
The field just comes up blank each time with no error or indication of what’s gone wrong.
OK, I think I know what’s going on here.
I’m using the tab forward extension to automatically forward the user to the ‘show all’ tab when editing or publishing an entry. The preview pane only seems to kick in when I manually select the ‘live look’ tab and doesn’t seem to work on the show all tab at all, even when selected manually.
Is there a work around for this issue?
Absolutely awesome extension. Everyone who uses our CMS here is going to love this. For the people trying to get it to work with Static Pages, I have a work around.
For the Entry URL option on the weblog containing your static pages, set it to:
http://www.iris.edu/hq/site/PAGE_static/{entry_id}
Our EE install lives at http://www.iris.edu/hq so obviously replace that site is the template group PAGE_static is the default static page template that we use.
This works like a charm for static pages. This may also depend on how your default static page template is written.
Err not a good plugin. Just gave it a go. Couldnt get this to work properly. Documentation needs improvement as well. Just my .2 cents.
Under Entry URL in the settings section Ive got: http://localhost/index.php/livethenews/article/{url_title}
Doc says: /blog/post/{entry_id}/{url_title}, tried this as well with the right template names and didnt work…
When I click on the Live Look tab, I dont get any preview at all
I get the following error when LiveLook is enabled on a weblog. It occurs when I’m starting a new entry and try to quick save it. It will still save the entry, but it will kick back a blank page with this error. This does not occur when clicking “submit” on a new entry or clicking “quick save” or “update” on an existing entry.
Until this is resolved I have used “Publish Page Improvements” Extension to rename “Submit/Update” button to “Add” and “Quick Save” just to “Save”.
I will tell the client that for new items they need to click “Add” and for existing items they can click save. “Submit/Update” button is of limited value given that what it presents is far inferior to the “Live Look” tab this plugin has added.
Obviously it’s not ideal that there is potential for this MySQL error but until it is resolved I’m happy to live with this.
Great extension by the way.
Hey all - wonder if anyone can throw some light on this? I’ve had LG Live Look working great in Safari and FF, but it’s not working in IE7. And of course my client is using IE7…
On one installation of IE7 the Live Look tab is just blank, nothing appears. The Live Look link in the Edit tab list of entries works great, btw, it’s just the Publish form tab.
On another, I also get a pop-up javascript error box - line 24, char 531, ‘Object doesn’t support this property or method’.
I notice also the ‘enlarge preview’ link doesn’t actually enlarge the box, and having the Live Link tab open makes a bit of a mess of the custom fields (it doesn’t push them down the page accordingly, they kind of overlap the Live Look iframe box).
Of course, I can just give the client the Live Look link in the Edit tab, that’s great. Would be good to know if anyone has this working in IE7 and if so, if they had to employ a workaround. As I say, works great in al other browsers.
Thanks!
I cannot for the life of me get the Live Look tab to load anything. The Live Look link works perfect but I don’t see our writers using that, they would however love the Live Look tab.
It’s hard enough getting them to do anything…the more I can make available to them from the Publish/Edit tabs the better.

I’ve ended up advising clients that this will only work under Firefox/Safari/other Webkit browsers, because I’ve as of yet found no solution to getting it to work in IE, which is a real shame.

That would be me, I only use mozilla/webkit browsers. But it doesn’t seem to work for me, maybe next time.
A sneak peek of version 1.0.2 of LG Live Look is now available from our repository on GitHub. I’ll update the download and documentation on leevigraham.com very soon but in the mean time you can read more about the changes and download the new version from the update post on the Newism blog.
A fair few of the reported bugs have been fixed and page urls have been integrated!
I’ve been trying to set this up and am getting the 1064 error. I’m using the new 1.02 version.
These are previously posted entries that I’ve saved. They are marked as open. I only get the error when I enable the display tag. The display link works just perfect.
The error occurs when I click on the post to edit it, preventing me from getting the post to edit it.
Here’s the error text to help out:
Notice: Undefined index: publish_form_entry_id in /www/eh8740/public_html/admin/extensions/ext.lg_live_look_ext.php on line 268

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
