First off, I love this extension. I recently added it to my site to test its feasibility for use in client sites, and I’ve been really impressed. I do have one slight feature request. Is there any way to make the default preview window bigger by default, or at least, to allow users to set its size the extension’s settings screen?
I know you can modify the size of the preview window with the “Enlarge Preview” and “Shrink Preview” links, and that the extension “remembers” the size of the window for an entry. But it does become a bit of a bother to have to reset the size of the preview window to something a little more usable every time.
Live Look is working 95% (Firefox (Mac) doesn’t play with enlarging the preview pane) the only glitch I am not able to fix is that EE’s native preview button remains, despite the preferences set in the LG Live Look extension manager.
Reviewing Leevi’s write up on Newism I noticed that the screenshot also shows the EE preview button.
Does this function work and if so, which version? (as the most recent 1.1.0 & 1.1.2 on Github don’t)
Thanks
JT, have you tried version 1.0.0 found here http://leevigraham.com/downloads/lg-live-look.1.0.0.zip. It’s the only version I can get to work with 1.6.8
Hey Leevi, what is the one template approach you mention earlier in this thread? I’d love to know a way to use one template without potentially exposing Closed content to the public instead of creating a preview template each time.
yeah, I sure have. thanks for the suggestion.
it doesn’t work at all. I uploaded and installed the version you linked. it doesn’t work on any of the sites I’m running. I gave up.
I just disabled the tab completely so none of my authors would ask about it.
I don’t know if it’s the same thing as what comes with ee, where you are viewing the edit tab and there’s a list of articles. that has a ‘live look’ link too, which doesn’t work. if the story isn’t live on the site, it doesn’t work, which completely defeats the purpose of even having it.
The other problem, if you haven’t noticed, read this thread back, nobody from LG has bothered to answer a single question in this thread for 7 months so far. this is the ONLY place i’ve found to get support. So if anyone does get it to work, you better hope it never breaks lol.
Still looking for an extension that previews posts correctly if anyone knows of one.
In testing LG Live Look it appears the extension doesn’t work with MSM. When trying to preview a post, the actual url Live Look is trying to use is the domain where the ee system directory is installed. So if I choose to work on a site outside the main system domain… the url is incorrect while trying to preview.
System is installed at www.domainA.com
While working in www.domainB.com and using live look… preview url is www.domainA.com/mypost/.
Has anyone found a workaround for this?
I’ve just recently discovered LG LiveLook and I really like it. I believe, however, that I’ve found a bug/conflict with the pages module.
LiveLook seems to want to show my preview via the url specified for the pages module instead of the one specified in the extension’s settings. This is a bummer since I like to create special “livelook” templates with headers and footers removed as well as expired and future entries enabled.
Is this functionality by design? Does anyone have advice about how I can get around it?
Oooh, I should also mention that I’m using MSM and the site in question is a secondary one.
Thanks!
Hi Leevi,
I seem to be getting this error message below when I try to edit entries from a certain weblog:
Notice: Undefined index: in /www/000000/public_html/bbhsys/extensions/ext.lg_live_look_ext.php on line 409
I have the path set exactly the same as for the other weblogs and they are using the same template. I can view the page under the livelook tab but I can’t understand why I’m getting this error only on this one weblog. Any ideas?
I’m running your latest version 1.1.0.
Thanks,
Jim
I’ve got the latest edition of Live Look but with EE 1.6.8 (using Safari or Mozilla on mac) I can’t get it to work - nothing shows up in the iframe.
Using version 1.0.0 it will work but not integrate with Publish Plus - and my goal is to get them both working together.
Reading back through this thread I can see that other people seem to have hit a brick wall and seem to have given up - has anyone any more recent thoughts? It’s a shame because it seems to be a great extension.
Any help gratefully received,
Huw
