I’ve installed this and it works great. The one problem is that I am using a template to output a link list for tinymce in expressionengine and now I am getting js errors because editor is trying to add buttons to the list. Is there a way to turn off editor for a template or is there some other way to output entries that by-pass editor?
Thanks.
OK I didn’t think I was this dumb but apparently… I’m seeing the editor-button div in the source code, but can’t seem to tweak the CSS to make it visible. Here’s what I see in the source:
<div class="editor-button"><a href="http://www.pbcoreresources.org/admin.php?S=d0c3b53a76fe6ab1106548dc2351047c41810fd2&C=edit&M=edit_entry&weblog_id=5&entry_id=35" title="Edit “Story-related images, WTF?”" target="_blank" rel="noopener"></a></div><style type="text/css"> .editor-button { position:relative; } .editor-button a { display:block; position:absolute; top:0; left:-16px; width:16px; height:12px; background:url(<img src="http://openweb.pmhclients.com/themes/cp_global_images/edit_template.gif" alt="" />) no-repeat 0 0; opacity:0.1; text-indent:-9999em; overflow:hidden; } .editor-button a:hover { opacity:1; }</style>
This appears just before the weblog entry. (BTW, as Steven mentions two posts back, it was appearing in my Title tag in the head section before, as I was also putting the entry title there using weblog tags. That’s a separate issue I think.)
I’m not sure why the css for editor-button would follow the html for it. Shouldn’t that be…elsewhere?
I’d love to get this working!
Here’s the page from which I grabbed the source code: http://www.pbcoreresources.org/article/index2/story-related_images_wtf/
awesome, I’ve been dreaming of this approach for ages…
I can’t seem to get it working properly on MSM though - do I need to change some paths somewhere? (It works fine if I access the site via its parent (primary) domain and then drill down through the folders instead of accessing it directly from the secondary top-level domain… any idea?

Settings are site-specific, so make sure that you’ve set the CP URL in both of your MSM sites, with the full domain included.
Thanks Brandon for your swift help 😊
I’ve done that now but it’s still not working on www.secondarydomain.com/new/, only on www.primarydomain.com/secondarydomain/new/, with the CP url for both set as www.primarydomain.com/system/index.php (both in the extension’s settings and the General Configuration EE settings).
feature request: options to select which weblogs can use editor. the little edit button shows up on some of my templates, however on some it doesn’t. I would definitely use this extension though.
for example I have a “locations” page that outputs some long/tat into a google maps api call via an entries tag, and it botches the map so that it doesn’t render properly.
great idea for an extension though!
Hello again,
Just wondering if anyone out there had any clues about this Disallowed Key Characters issue? I’ve seen this error mentioned on other threads on the forums but not sure how the things discussed relate to this issue 😖
I’m using version 1.6.3 and build 20080421 if that helps.
I just set up a page for Editor on Get Satisfaction.
Going forward, please use that venue for support rather than the EE forums.
Thanks!
