Here’s the Xinha extension for adding WYSIWYG text editing to the EE Publish page. Please check it out and let me know if it needs any changes. Thanks!

Update 7-5-06: The release version 1.0 of the extension is available here.

It works great except for the SuperClean plugin. When selected I get an error on the website:

Line: 6547 Char: 7 Error: 'SuperClean' is undefined Code: 0 URL: http://www.xyz.com/system/index.php?...

If it’s off everything works fine.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks for checking out the extension. I’m glad to hear everything’s working except for that plugin. Was the plugin uploaded to your site correctly? Try re-uploading the Superclean plugin, with TEXT or ASCII mode selected in your upload program.

Ok found the problem. I updated Xinah to the build from yesterday night and it seems that SuperClean is broken. I uploaded an older version and now it works.

Some feedback on the settings page:

It would be good if you indicated somewhere which plugins need additional configuration. The ImageManager for instance requires additional parameters to be set in the config.inc.php file within the plugin directory.

Thanks for a great extension.

You’re very welcome. Thanks for testing it and for the excellent suggestion, and for tracking down what was going on with the SuperClean plugin. I’m glad to hear the extension is working correctly.

Works great here, although I haven’t tried out all the capabilities…

Don’t know if this is a future thing or supposed to be in this version, but in the Settings no custom fields are getting loaded, just the three in the Default field group.

Thanks for the feedback, jtnt. I’m glad to hear it’s working correctly. At the moment it doesn’t have any way of acting on custom fields; that might be a feature for a future release of the Xinha extension.

Got it.

I figured I can just add these in manually into the plug in file…

Yes, that will work.

Actually, it won’t, since Xinha throws errors if you list textareas you want it to replace that aren’t on the page. I found some code on the Xinha forums that replaces all textareas dynamically, which gets around this limitation. Here’s the post: http://xinha.gogo.co.nz/punbb/viewtopic.php?id=68

jtnt, I didn’t think you meant to replace text areas that might not be on the page. Thanks for solving it and for the link.

jtnt, can you upload here (or email me) the modifications you made to the plug-in file? Thanks in advance.

Would this extension also be applicable for the wiki, allowing members to edit wiki pages using WYSIWYG?
