The author is reasonably responsive if you email him from his Contact page at lumis.com.

OK Erin, thanks for that. In this case I’ll leave it as it is.

Just wanted to say thanks for this plugin - took me an hour to get working but will save endless hours of client headaches. Cheers!

Has anybody ever gotten Image Sizer to scale upward? From my recollection, I’ve always had an issue with this and was wondering if there was a solution for this? I don’t know if this is an inherent issue with Image Sizer or something else (GD2), but it would be GREAT if this were possible.

I know about a year ago (or longer) I inquired about this to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Example: Source image file is 500 pixels in width. I’d like Image Sizer to scale it to 700 pixels in width, rather than a smaller value than the source.

mr_dimsum I dont understand why you would want to do this? Surely the images will look very poor even if it was possible?

Its easy to set up, try downloading it and giving it a go?

If not let me know and I could do a test.

It’s a matter of flexibility and being aware of the option when a time does come around when I would need something like this. As far as I know, it does not work for upsizing, but if you do know how, please do tell. Thanks mate.

I am having a strange problem with this plug in and wondering if anyone can help!?

I am using Mark Hout file extension to upload the images and the Image Sizer plug in to resize to a thumbnail which will open up into a lightbox. After uploading the file the link location is correct (i.e. URL being produced is pointing to the correct location and file name) the upload folder is being created (and has the correct privilages - 777) but the actual image is not being produced.

Can there be a conflict between the extension and the plug in preventing the image being created?

Apologies if this has already been solved previously. I scanned through the forum pages but did not spot a solution.

I frequently use both Mark’s File extension and Image Sizer together with no problems at all.

I honestly thought the upsizing thing was an April Fools’ post.

kreate: There is no reason to use Huot’s File extension any longer. You really should install FieldFrame and then nGenWork’s File fieldtype.

@mdesign - I have not used this before so will look into this for future use. At the moment time is a little bit of an issue so trying to stick to what I know. I have tested the same code (with Huot’s File enxtension and Image Sizer plug in) used on the live site on a test site on MAMP and this works fine. So the set up and code all appear correct.

Do you guys know of any server settings that may block the image being produced other than the permissions on the folders?

LOL @ Masuga!

The upsizing is a real inquiry! I doubt I’d ever come across the need for it, but you can never be more safe.. After all, not all clientele would take the necessary time to crop their images in an image processor, etc.

Here’s my reasoning behind the upsizing: In a blog, I may have multiple display types triggered by a field that acts as a toggle in a conditional. Some articles may feature no images, some may feature a main image that is tiny, and some may feature an image that is displayed as a block that matches the width of the paragraph. While the meticulous ones would ensure they crop their images accordingly, others may not have this luxury, hence, upsizing and croppping may be a reasonable solution.

Hopefully this clears things a bit up. I’ve done some websites for local clients in my home town that have never heard of Adobe, so I’d like to fool-proof things as best as I can.

Back to the upsizing inquiry - possible or not possible? And thanks in advance for any answers =)

mr_dimsum,

I know what you are saying about clients not cropping or resizing images correctly and everything but really all you need to do is to ensure that they upload the image at the largest size that you are going to need to use on your site and then only ever down-size for the different situations. Upsizing should never ever be done in my eyes.

Just make sure that they know that their images they upload have to be a certain size and then you will only ever have to down-size.

Hope that helps a bit.

Best wishes,

Mark

Not with the EE file upload, where height and width attributes are added during file upload (as it should).

Are you sure ExpressionEngine automatically fills in width and height attributes? Have you looked into your CP Home › Admin › Weblog Administration › File Upload Preferences to confirm you have removed the pre-formatting, etc. in there? Image Sizer has worked fine for a long time for me.

On the other hand, there are external scripts that can do the exact same thing (and more) and is quite lighter phpThumb.

I noticed Lumis has come back from the dead and made a post sometime in January 2009 about altering the cache folder location - this would be a swell idea.

Hi Lumis,

I’m working on a new server and I’m getting an error I’ve never seen before. It seems like I get the error the first time I try to view the image on the front end–not in the control panel. After I hit refresh the image shows up on the page just fine.

I’m not doing anything really different. Same thing I always do successfully with this great plug in.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function imageantialias() in /home/webadmin/public_html/rimcosystem/plugins/pi.imgsizer.php on line 674

Any ideas?

Thanks
