Hi folks,

I’m happy to announce that Weever is (finally!) ready for purchase. Weever works with ExpressionEngine’s built-in comments module to enable “threaded” or “nested” comments – that is, it allows users to comment on other comments, rather than just posting in the “flat”, date-ordered format that is EE’s default. Weever includes a number of configuration and customization options.

I know several of you have been waiting for Weever for quite some time. I sincerely apologize for the delay.

Hopefully the documentation will give you a good idea of what you can accomplish using Weever. There are a few brief tutorials right now; those will increase according to user needs.

Aha looking good. WIll have to try this one out when I get the chance. Well done on what must have been quite a bit of work?

I see you’ve used the EE documentation guide on there which looks great.

Well done on this one. 😉

Best wishes,

Mark

Oooh just noticed you have to pay. May have to wait a bit on that one I’m afraid due to funds at the moment :-(

Sure it will be great for lots of people though so again well done!

Best wishes,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Sorry ‘bout the confusion re: purchasing Weever. I changed some wording above to make it more clear. Believe me, I wish it could be free just as much as you do. Unfortunately, the number of hours I put into this just don’t allow it.

Hiya,

I totally understand. Not a problem. I’m sure from the amount of posts you had in the forum thread that you should hopefully recuperate some of that time 😉

Best wishes with everything.

Mark

Mr Wilson, can you put a demo up (preferably of the jquery version) so that we can see how this works? (For us visually-minded people!)

Thanks!

Hi Adam,

I have put together a simple demo. As time permits I will expand the demo (and the tutorials) to include things like “ajaxified” pagination using jQuery.

Weever titling question:

For some reason old comments (prior to installing Weever) do not have titles assigned to them automatically (after Weever is installed)? Is this intentional or are we missing a parameter/setting from our end? Everything else is working great so far.

Any response would be appreciated.

That is correct, at this time titles are not automatically generated for comments created prior to installing Weever.

Got it. In that case, we figured we’ll do this as an alternative:

{if weever_root_id == comment_id AND weever_title == ""}Re: {title}{if:else}{weever_title}{/if}

The above is basically intended to use the original post title (prefixed with ‘Re:’)for the older comments (prior to using Weever). This should be OK, right?

P.S. I tried using ‘weever_is_root’ variable in the if statement above but wasn’t getting any results for the if statement.

Hmm, that smells like a bug. I’ll put that on my todo list.

Hi Mr. Wilson,

Is Weever still being supported? Does it work with 1.6.6.? This sounds PERFECT for a site I’m working on.

Thanks, Matt

Hi Matt,

Yes, Weever is still supported. I slowed work on it for a while, mistakenly awaiting the arrival EE2.0. Oops. I’m working on a new release, but the current release works fine and is in use on several sites. I’m pretty busy these days so I don’t check in on these forums as often as I would like. If you need support you’re best off contacting me directly.
