I love it. I found that I actually DID purchase Solspace’s GX module in the past but I’ve never used it. So I grab the latest one (2.1.0). There are five folders in there and not one note about how to install. Lovely.
I’m pretty familiar with EE and how it works, but I mean, c’mon. Am I supposed to guess where to put the “lib” folder? Do I have to crack open all the files and look for the paths to determine where some of this goes?
Leevi, I’ll pay you $50 so I don’t have to monkey with GX2 - especially if it turns out I can’t use it for whatever reason (reading in the Solspace forums about how it conflicts with Huot’s File extension…).
@Cem: I’m assuming you can’t order those related gallery images arbitrarily. That seems to be a big issue these days: best practices for custom ordering things.
UPDATE: Sure enough, a conflict between GX2 and Mark Huot’s File means I’ll need to uninstall GX2.
You mean to make a new custom field of the “Relationship” type, and select the radio for “Relate weblog entries to gallery entries”? Does that create a multiple relationship (one to many)?Yes, that’s correct. You can then multi select images that are related to that entry.
I’m failing to see how to get a multiple relationship field tied to a gallery. I’m only able to target one image. I know I have successfully used a Related Gallery Extension in the past. So, in this case, I think I might use the gallery module, make a gallery for each entry, and then relate the gallery to the entry.

You’re right, unfortunately ordering options are limited to date and title.

Here is quick a screen cast of how Gallery Multi Relationship works.
Thanks for the screencast!
Ever since Playa came out, I haven’t used Mark Huot’s multi-relation extension. I was trying to do what you did, but with Playa, which actually rewrites that area of the CP where the radio button for relating to a gallery sits.
I really wish Playa could handle this…because it’s a Multi-Relation extension that allows you to arbitrarily order the results - extremely handy field type to have, if you haven’t tried it.
Wonder if I could modify it to pull entries from a gallery, even showing a little thumbnail… 😊
From the preliminary screenshots I’ve seen of something Leevi Graham is working on…well, let’s say there’s some cool stuff sitting on his hard drive, and it might render this thread moot.
Thanks again for taking the time to make the screencast.

No problem, Ryan. Indeed Playa is a very handy extension.
I too am waiting for Leevi and his great looking module.
With File, you can add multiple images and it creates a thumbnail (although I would like to be able to crop this myself like the gallery module) but will Leevis?
I need to be able to create 3 different sizes of image for my portfolio so it would be dead useful.
Steven, are you actually cropping or resizing? If you’re resizing only you can do all that (and cache the resulting images) at the template level with the Imgsizer plugin from Lumis (or phpThumb).
Imgszr doesn’t work for me and I have posted something about it in another thread.
It frustrates me but I have faith in EllisLab to resolve this including -
Too bad Imgsizer doesn’t work for you - I use that on almost every site.
Have you seen the extension that relates a gallery category to an entry? If not, let me know. There is one out there that is buried way deep in a forum thread that allows for different fields to be related to different galleries.
I have to agree with you - I believe EllisLab listens and will resolve many things regarding the way images are currently handled. I always run into a wall at some point when monkeying with galleries!
